What is ASP.net?

ASP is an acronym for Active Server Page. The .net suffix indicates that it is part of the .net initiative launched by Microsoft in 2001. ASP.net pages work like HTML pages in that they are both sent from a server. However, ASP.net pages differ in that their content is always changing. The rules for this dynamic content are stored in .dll files on the server. Often, these .dlls connect to databases and other libraries of information to generate POWERFUL web sites.

Why choose ASP.net?

ASP.net was designed to use libraries built right into the newest WindowsTM servers, namely Windows 2000 and 2003 Server (as part of the .net initiative). As well, a 3rd Microsoft program, SQL ServerTM, has also been optimally designed to manage databases in the Windows operating system. What happens when you run ASP.net with SQL Server on a Windows server? The graph above demonstrates its superior transaction processing speed compared to some of its nearest competitors. It is simply the most cost effective web server solution available on the market when you factor in development time, reliability, scalability and performance. PHP and ASP.old have limited usage in a mid-large scale server system. With current trends, and the maturity of the product, ASP.net will soon be the industry standard. If your business wants to stay competitive, join the ASP.net network now!
